These Awards are named in honour of Dr. Deborah Zornes, the President of CARA from 2017-2021. In addition to leadership on the CARA board, Deborah's leadership in research administration included serving as a Member of the International Organization of Research Management Societies (INORMS) Council and Working Group as well as Task force member and co-lead for the INORMS Research Administration as a Profession (RAAAP) research project. Deborah established and sustained many new international relationships for CARA.
The Dr. Deborah Zornes Awards recognize and support the efforts of CARA members who share Deborah's interest in leadership, scholarship, and mentorship through sharing their expertise at conferences, nationally and internationally.
One award, a Canadian Conference on Research Administration/CARA national conference registration, will be given annually to a speaker at the national conference.
A second award provides $1000 to support registration and/or travel and accommodation for a CARA member presenting at an international conference or other event on research administration.
The CARA national conference award application deadline is January 1.
The deadline for the international conferences is ongoing (with up to one being awarded per fiscal year), apply anytime.
