Dr. Marjorie Piechowski, Director Emerita of Research Support in the College of Engineering & Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has over 35 years of experience in grant development and research administration at three Midwest universities. Earlier positions included Grant Information Specialist at Marquette University (3 years) and founding Director of Sponsored Programs and Research at DePaul University (17 years). During her extensive career she has coordinated and written large-scale, collaborative grant applications and facilitated several thousand individual faculty research proposals to federal, state, private and industry sponsors for these and many other institutions across the United States.
Recognized nationally and internationally for her expertise in research administration and proposal development, she has made over 90 presentations at regional, national and international meetings. Her research administration and proposal development clients include over 75 colleges and universities, corporations, not for profit organizations, faith-based organizations, municipalities and government agencies. She also conducts proposal development workshops across the United States and abroad, including Japan and Qatar.
As an independent consultant, she has written over thirty-five million dollars of successful grants for a variety of colleges and universities. She has served in leadership roles in the National Organization of Research Development Professionals, the National Council of University Research Administrators and the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI), serving as International and Midwest Section president and as an SRAI Distinguished Faculty. In 2018 she was honored by SRAI with the Herbert B. Chermside Award for her contributions to the field of research administration.
