Mandate

The Canadian Association of Research Administrators (CARA) is a national voice for research administrators in Canada. With over 1000 members, our professional organization's strength is in its diversity and comprehensive approach to research administration.

  

Objectives

CARA has a robust professional development platform that includes: an annual conference, webinars, individual mentorship and a fully online Research Administration Certificate in partnership with Mohawk College. CARA invites research administration experts to share their knowledge with research administrators across Canada and with our international guests as well. Value Proposition for Presenter

-  Sharing your expertise via a CARA webinar helps expand your professional network, underscores your presentation and leadership skills, and allows you to contribute to your profession.

-  Presenters receive two free passes to any upcoming CARA webinar and are recognized through CARA’s Volunteer Recognition Program. Please note that CARA is a volunteer-led association and does not pay webinar presenters.

   

Commitment / Expectations

-  1-hour presentation (30-50 minutes of lecture with time for Q&A).
-  Preparatory work in advance to plan content (can repurpose existing presentations or create new material).
-  Submission of webinar abstract and speaker biography to promote/market.
-  15-minute practice run with CARA staff member a week beforehand.

  

Logistics

-  The format is virtual/online, using the Zoom platform.

-  Audio only or video (Screen shared presentation)

-  Typically 10-30 attendees-consisting of primarily Canadian research administrators, of all levels/experience from college, academic hospitals, and universities across Canada.

-  We encourage interactivity style with visual displays (images, videos, etc.) Polls are an option.

-  Webinar moderation and tech support provided by a CARA staff member.

-  If the speaker agrees, webinars are recorded and archived and slides are distributed to attendees.
